It is stated several times in the Bible: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble". In the beatitudes, Jesus says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God." It seems to me Mother Teresa of Calcutta was an humble person. Her life was about serving, not being served. She felt unworthy before God. I'm a Baptist, she was a Catholic. But I'll side with her over most any television evangelist or right-wing religious politician. I have greater respect for her because now I realize she was a fellow struggler.
It's comforting to know she faced the same struggles as the rest of us. I am not Catholic but I have a lot of respect for her. She truly was a saint if there ever was one.
